The Jackett Family: A Gentle Landing from Across the World

When the Jackett family traveled from Australia to Jacksonville for their daughter Polly’s proton radiation treatment, they arrived exhausted, overwhelmed and facing one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. What they found at Ronald McDonald House Jacksonville was more than just a place to stay. It was a gentle landing when they needed it most.

From the moment they walked through the doors, the Jacketts felt held, supported and safe. The kindness and comfort woven into every detail helped make an unimaginable situation feel manageable. Having a true home away from home allowed them to focus on what mattered most, helping Polly through her treatment.

One of the most meaningful parts of their stay was the connection they built with other families. Sharing meals, conversations, tears, hope and laughter with people walking a similar path created lifelong bonds. Those friendships, formed during such a vulnerable time, are gifts the Jacketts will always treasure.

Today, their family looks back on their time at the House with deep gratitude. The care they received made a profound difference in their journey, and they hope by sharing their story, other families will feel the same encouragement and support.

The Jacketts will always be part of our House family and we’re grateful to be a part of their journey.
