When Ky’re entered the world, he came with a fighting spirit. His first days were spent at the NICU, where his mom was quickly introduced to Ronald McDonald House Jacksonville. Over the past seven years, Ky’re and his mom have returned to the House time and time again as he continues to face ongoing health challenges. What began as a place to stay during those uncertain first months has since become a second home for the Fuller family.
When families arrive at our House, they often arrive with only their suitcases. Things we sometimes take for granted, the comforts of home, are left behind as they focus on getting critical medical care for their child. Car seats are one of these overlooked items and we’re hopeful you can be a part of the solution. Our House is currently in need of four new car seats to provide safe transportation for families like Ky’re’s. Please read more about Ky’re’s story and the impact our House has made on his family.
Through it all, the House has been a steady source of comfort and care, providing a place to stay, warm meals and transportation.
Without a vehicle of their own, Ky’re and his mom can always rely on the House for safe transportation to the hospital, pharmacy and even the grocery store. The little details, like making sure they have what they need to keep Ky’re safe on the ride, give mom peace of mind and remind her she is not alone on this journey.
What means the most, though, is the way she feels loved here. “Words can’t hardly capture the gratitude I feel. The staff bend over backwards to help in any way they can,” she said. “You can feel their hearts in everything they do.”
We are proud to be a part of his family’s journey. Thank you for helping our House be a home for Ky’re and so many other families like his.
